Trekking from Tumling tar to Makalu Base Camp - Arun Valley - Tumling tar

1. Trekking to Mt. Makalu Base Camp
This is some what difficult yet rewarding trek offers a true wilderness experience in the rugged uninhabited terrain of Makalu Barun National Park. Because there are a few lodges above Tashigaon, take camping gear, and enough food, and fuel for at least two weeks. The use of a local guide   is strongly recommended, as trial is sometimes difficult  to follow
                                                                                   
Day 1: Tumlingtar (457m) to Manebhanjyang (1,160mm).  1 hours by taxi.
Day 2:  Trekking from Manebhanjyang to Chichila(1,920m)  5 hours
Day 3: Chichila to Mude or Num(1,500m)6-8 hours
Day 4:Mude/Num to Sedwa (Murmidanda)(1,510m)Show trekking and MBCP permits at post and MBSP Sector office. 5-7 hours
Day 5: Sedwa to Tashigaon (2,060m). Last village before entering the uninhabited Makalu –Barun National Park. Lodging/camping available .3-4hours
Day 6: Rest at Tashigaon to acclimatize. Check food, fuel and equipments. Fuel, kerosene stoves and blankets available for purchase/rent at the MBCP depot.
Day 7:Tashigaon  to  Khongma(3,500m). Sharp elevation gains: heed altitude sickness symptoms.  ( 6-8hours )
Day 8: Khongma to Mumbuk (3,400m). Cross Sipton Pass(4,800m)and Keke pass(4,127m). 5hours
Day 9: Mumbuk to Yangle (3,540) or Nghe (3,750) Kharkas. Start early to minimize landslide risks on unstable landslide zone  (Time 4- 5 hours)
Day 10:  Yangle /Nhe Kharka to Merek, ( 4,200 metres). Sharp Elevation gains:  heed altituse sickens  symptoms. Stay in lodges at magnificent  natural amphitheater at the base of Mt. Makalu or Camp. Half hour further on at Merek(4,200 metres) 6 hours.
Day 11: Merek to Shersong (4600 metres). 3 hours
Day 12: Shersong to Base Camp 3-4 hours. Enjoy the natural beauty,Take photos of  the beautiful places. pond.
Return: Trek via Tashigaon on same route, or take lower alternate route  through Moul Gaon  Walung , Choyang, Pukuwa, Yaphu, Tome, Bumling and Chewabesi to Tumling tar.(3- 4 days)
 
2.Precautions
1.    Carry a comprehensive first aid kit.
2.    Learn about the symptoms and treatment for altitude sickness before you go.
3.  Remember that high altitude trails can be snowed in at any time- and prepare accordingly.
4. Register with your embassy before departure, and make any need provisions to assure that helicopter evacuation will be available if needed.
5.  In case of emergency, you can radio for help from the Makalu-Barun National park headquarter at Seduwa or sectors offices in Tamku, Seduwa, Bung and Hatiya .
6.  There is a hospital in Khandbari and health post at Seduwa And Bung villages.

3.Rules regulates you have to follow.   
If you go to Mt Makalu base Camp………………
1.Trekking and special permits to enter Makalu –Barun National Park are
available from Nepal department   of immigration in Kathmandu
2.Take enough Kerosene for your need.
3.Do not burn fire wood hunt and fish inside the National park
4.Camp only in designated campsites on the Makalu Base Camp route.
5.Dig toilet pits at least 50 m from water sources and bury them when you leave
6.Burn your refuse and carry all non biodegradable litter out of the National Park.
7.Dress modestly and photograph local people if they  consent
